Time and Tide Waits for No Men

Whenever i see this phrase, i will associate it with a watch. I have no idea when i start loving watches but it is only admire at this stage, not buy to keep kind...simply because buying watches may burnt a deep hole in my pocket.

Recently, i chance upon my friend's blog and was surprised that he's a watch collector. He doesn't invest in those 5 digit watches, mainly 4 digits kind. I am equally surprised by his knowledge on the different watches. That's when i cannot call myself a watch collector. I am merely attracted to the design of watches, not the history and mechanics behind those watches.

I own 4 watches currently, but none are 4 digit figures...when the price of all 4 watches add up, they do not equate to a 4 digit figure too. I am wondering when i can own such a watch...hopefully soon( i am already eyeing on one already) =D

Woman

Shopping

I realise i got many pairs of shoes suddenly after i move house...as more space means can buy more. Then realise i buy but never wear...especially those high heels which i need to find occasions to wear. Don't expect me to go shopping with high heels. I think i will just die.

I guess girls can also own tonnes of bags. I try not to as i always tend to only carry that few. I only like bags which i can put a water bottle, an umbrella, a book, tissue and my wallet...so a tote will be good. To me, small handbags are just for special occasion cos they are not handy at all.

Facial

I never try to do facial before cos i feel once you start you will not stop. I also don't like to put on make-up cos i feel it's a waste of time and money. My cosmetics can just stay in my cupboard for more than a year...sometimes i just can't find any reasons to buy new ones...how come i can't finish a small cheek powder.

When the first impression counts, you just can't stop spending the time and money to try and make yourself look the best. I just feel that people nowadays are more critical of what you wear and how you look. Perhaps the consolation of spending that kind of time and money is building up your own self-confidence. For me, i just need some retail therapy to make myself happy =D

More desserts

Suddenly feel like having some sweet stuff...went to Cedele to try their sea salt caramel ice cream (which taste quite good as it has chunks of salted almond in it) and then got my favourite carrot cake and chocolate banana espresso cake.

I love carrot cake...but not those fried ones. What i meant is the one on the right...the lemon cheese frosting is yummy with the cinnamon carrot cake. The chocolate banana espresso is super sinful too...but i have both cakes all to myself at one go.

I love desserts but i can't stand those desserts that are too sweet. Like the donuts at J.Co, they are super unbearable! The dough is soft but the coating and the filling inside is too sweet.
I have just tried them the first time and i think it shall be the last time. Even my brother and sister who love donuts don't like the J. Co ones.

The "wei da" mamas

My sis and i have organised a gathering at my grandma's house today. We have Jane's Cake Station durian and chocolate cakes.
Durian cake not so fantastic...in fact, i think Goodwood Park is still the best, following by Emicakes. I shall attempt to make my own durian cake the next time round...dump in all the pure durian flesh.

The chocolate cake is not too bad...rich and not sweet. But some of my cousins don't like as they don't like the jelly-like texture. It's a bit like Awfully Chocolate. I guess they prefer the super dense and sweet kind. Coming back to mothers...I think all mothers are really very wei da. They give the best to their kids. Of course, our dads are wei da as well but i think the unconditional love provided by mums are much more than dads.

I have been very fortunate as my mum has been the one taking care of me since i was born. She was a full-time house maker till i was 23. She has been the one taking care of my meals, washing and ironing my clothes (actually till i got married). So she has spent a huge part of her life looking after me and my siblings. I seriously can't imagine that i have to do that as well if i have my kids next time.

Mother's Day

To avoid the crowd, i had dinner with my family last sun at the Jumbo Seafood. As usual, when it comes to seafood, i can only "see food". Actually, i am allergic to seafood but selected ones. The most no-no i can't touch will be prawn and crab. My throst itch and rashes will start to appear around my mouth and palms if i touch them. For the rest of the seafood, sometimes my throat will itch and i will need to eat a lot of stuff just to get rid of the itch.

Super hot!

It has super hot since last week...the effect of crazy weather...continous rain a month ago and now the scorching sun...in fact i prefer the sun as it means more business for my husband!

Can't believe my eyes when i saw a scoop of haagen-dazs ice cream cost S$5.50, two scoops $9.50. Just when did they increase the price? I thought it was expensive already but now it's worse! I guess i shall just stick to homemade ice cream (me /my husband's own creation). I have been a great supporter of our local homemade ice cream. =D

As mention in my last post, i shall update you about the chiffon cake from Pine Garden. It is not too bad...considering the cheap pricing too. As mother's day is round the corner, i have also placed order for the chocolate cake and durian cake from Jane's Cake Station. It has been almost 3 years since i tried their chocolate cake...just craving for it now!

Yummiest Desserts

Have you read the Sunday Times 2 or 3 weeks ago when they introduce the 50 yummiest cakes? Desserts are my favourite but i have cut down a lot cos i can hardly find the right kakis to share the "sins" with me...my husband will only touch a fifth of the dessert if i go with him, so i will end up having all the fats.

I have personally tried at least half of those yummiest cakes...the chocolate cakes are simply my favourite...especially the one from Jane Cake Station. However, it has been at least 2 years since i ate their cake as it's a bit inconvenient for me. Where is the most sinful chocolate cake i have come across? The seven layer chocolate cake at Seah Street Deli. This is not featured in the article. Perhaps you won't want to eat chocolate anymore after you have that..haha!

I just went to Pine Gardens today. I have seen articles on their creative cakes, like the lychee martini, and also their popular blackforest cake and chiffon cake, so i decided to have those. The lychee martini cake is refreshing cos of the lychees but there is not much of the vodka or martini liquor in it. The blackforest cake is good as the cherry has been soaked in kirsh or some other cherry liquor. I hate those that just use those cherry soaked in plain syrup. I always believe in QUALITY!

I have yet tried the chiffon cake as i decide to share with my colleagues tomorrow...will definitely give an update in my next entry.

I love dessert and also try to make my own, but i am lazy, just like when it comes to updating my blog. Problem with making my own dessert is that i don't like to eat them, no matter how good they are...i only sample them to make sure they are good...haha!

I just made the tiramisu recently. I have not made since a few months ago...that is the only dessert that i made most often as you don't need an oven at all. I'm just wondering now what dessert i am going to make next.
