Gentlemen

I think it's really difficult to find a gentleman in Singapore nowadays...
1) never offer to hold the door for a lady; worse, it just smack right in front of a lady's face;
2) never let the ladies out of the lift first
3) snatch seats with ladies on the MRT or buses.

These are just some examples. I think i can just experience a few a day. Maybe the ladies are just too used to such men's behaviour in Singapore! Are we going to be the less graceful lady who may need to snatch seats with man or are we going to be the nasty ladies who will just tell the man off when his action is really unreasonable?

My sis was just telling me how these a man (together with his male partner) snatched her carpark lot a few days ago when there were a lot of other cars around waiting for carpark lots. She had to approach the 2 men to tell them how ungentlemanly, unreasonable, etc. they were. Even though they knew they had snatched a lady's rightful carpark lot, they did not even say sorry or move out of the lot utimately.

Guess what my sis had done. Open their car door, told them off and then banged their car door. Guess what i would have done if i were my sis? I would use my lipstick and paint words on their windscreen to make everyone know how bad the car driver was. Never offend me or you will just get it from me! I believe in teaching them such lessons.

Hate the morning crowd

I hate to take the MRT at around 8am...it's just too many people. Can you imagine sometimes i can't even board the MRT even though i am at Bedok? Even if i did, i hate the following kinds of people:
1) those who like to cross leg - when there are already so many people standing around, can't these people be more considerate?
2) those who like to swing their long hair around when there are people standing so close behind you...simply irritating!
3) those who just simply refused to move into the middle of the cabin...can you imagine if you are the ones who can't get on the MRT?

Why can't people be more considerate when taking the public transport especially during the peak periods?

I do wish i can leave home just 15 mins earlier every morning because the MRT will be slightly less crowded but it means i will be losing 15 mins of my beauty sleep.

Activities and more activities

I try my best not to touch the computer when i get home...that explains why i seldom blog nowadays. Moreover, too many activities to keep me occupied.

First, just returned from Taipei two weeks ago. I shall post some photos shortly.
Second, went to apply for the HDB flat...got queue no. that is 5000+. Over 10,000 applicants but only 350 houses available.
Third, fell ill last week.
Fourth, went to try on bridal gown.
Fifth, going to see resale flats...faint...most places asking for so much cash on top of valuation.

More things coming up...preparation for wedding, looking for house, etc...so that's pretty much going to keep me occupied for the next five months.

Carrot Cake

I went to the Project Shop Cafe at Paragon yesterday. This was my first time there and after running through the menu, i decided to order a slice of carrot cake (which was one of my favourite dessert). The prices of their cakes were not shown on the menu but i thought it would cost at most S$7. To my surprise, it reflected $8.80 on my bill. I have never eaten a slice of carrot cake which cost so much. It does taste good but i don't think it warrants me to pay $10 (after service charge and GST) for just a slice. Perhaps it's telling me that it's time for me to bake my own carrot cake =D

I love the cinnamon taste and the lemon cheese frosting on the carrot cake. I guess i am just a cinnamon lover. I love cinnamon buns but it's difficult to find those soft cinnamon buns nowadays. I can only get them from Simply Bread, one of my favourite bakery. I remember there used to be a shop at Parco Bugis and Great World City which sells soft cinnamon buns but both have closed down already.

Meeting up sessions

I have been meeting up with friends at least once a week since i return from UK. Meeting up for me means not only catching up with friends but also gaining extra calories. We tend to go for dessert / drink even after a heavy meal. I think i am reaching a point whereby i just want to eat simple food like mixed vegetables and rice.

Yuppy! No more meeting up sessions for me till end of this month. It's time now for me to "cleanse my digestive system".=D

Sentosa

I think it has been almost a year and a half since i have last been to Sentosa. It has indeed changed quite a bit. I was quite impressed by the Siloso Beach Resort. It is really beautiful inside, especially the waterfall, the pool and the seaside scenery.

Fans of Durian

My family, including my grandma and relatives, simply love durians. Since it's my grandma's birthday yesterday, i made a durian ice cream cake for her. Anyone who wish to taste the ice cream cake will have to order from me. I do charge a premium for that...hehe =D
We also celebrate my sis birthday at the same time...but too bad the cake that i made for my sis got flattened before it reach my grandma's house. Sorry sis!

Money

Can money buy happiness? Is money forever so important in our lives?

Sometimes it can be a real headache, especially when i don't understand why some elderly people are just so particular about it. They can't even bury those money in their coffins, so why can't they just be more generous about it? They should be using their money to enjoy their lives now. I feel that life is short. We should just live it to the fullest while we can.

Donuts

So what's the craze about donuts in Singapore? Is it going to be another passing fad like bubble tea or Rotiboy buns? Personally i don't like donuts because they are simply too unhealthy...deep fried and super sweet.
At the request of my sis, my bf got a box of Krispy Kreme donuts from Australia. I think they taste better than the donuts here. I have never heard of Krispy Kreme till i was in London when my friend first introduced it to me. I love the one which has chocolate coating with custard filling.

Weekend

How i spend this weekend? I went shopping (as there is Great Singapore Sale) and of course, going around to find good food.

I have my brunch at Cheong Fun House today. They make a lot of different kinds of cheong fun such as durian, mango, strawberry, unagi, scallop, lobster, etc. The durian and the char siew cheong fun are my favourite!
I have peanut toast and kopi at tea time. Think i am now addicted to Yuan Yang and Kopi. This is the seafood pasta that my bf has ordered at Pasta de Waraku at The Central. This Waraku outlet specialises in japanese pasta only. Not too bad.

Mothers' Day

To celebrate Mothers' Day this year, we went to get our mum her favourite Durian cake from the Goodwood Park Hotel. However, this time round, we decided to try something different and get her the Durian Pandan Coconut cake instead.

The cake consists of alternate layers of durian flesh and pandan sponge cake. I didn't know that durian, pandan and coconut can go so well together =D

Flea market

I have never been to a flea market in Singapore before but i have heard of it. I went to the one just outside Orchard Cineleisure as Jamie had a store there selling some clothes.

Genting Highlands

I think the last time i went to Genting Highlands was at age 13. This is my second time there with my family including my uncles and aunties.

What can we do at Genting other than gamble? Eat, shop and watch movie!

My sis having the Marrybrown chicken. It's similar to KFC but doesn't taste as good as KFC.

This is our late night dessert at Baskin Robbins:

My favourite bakery

Once you have tried the breads in Provence, you would fall in love with them. I love the breads here because they are soft and taste really good. I have been craving for their bread since i came back from London.

Provence offers a wide variety of breads and my favourites are the small chocolate wassant (photo below) and the blueberry cheesecake bread.

You must call to reserve the chocolate wassants (a packet of 10) to ensure that you won't come home empty-handed.

Coffee Lover

I am a coffee lover but i limit myself to a maximum of 2 cups of coffee a day. Given a choice of a coffee place such as Starbucks or Coffee Bean, i would ask for TCC instead. Not only do they serve great coffee, they serve great dessert too!

This is their iced mint mocha.

A New Blog with A New Look!

I have just managed to find the time to do up my new blog today. I have decided to give my new blog a new look. My new chapter in Singapore after i return from London on 4 April 2007 =D
